Catering for the ‘differently able’ has been an area of concern for the different sectors of society for many years in Trinidad and Tobago. At the very foundation of society is the education system which prepares the members of society for the world ahead. Catering for students with special educational needs is no easy task. We realize that the present services available to our students and others, are insufficient to adequately cater to their needs. Our vision for the future aspires to provide cutting edge, research based services in inclusive education, providing platforms for expanded understandings and enriched outcomes for students who have been diagnosed with a disability, students who are at risk, and those affected by disability in other ways. We are committed to widening our remit in order to fill the pressing needs expressed by so many parents, teachers and students, for whom access to services and resources in inclusive education continues to be a serious challenge. Access to such services will improve outcomes, not just for students with diagnosed disabilities but for every child who interacts with formal education in Trinidad and Tobago.
